Common Metrics & Modules

This documentation covers a comprehensive set of financial, operational, and retail performance measures used across modules such as Payables, Receivables, Sales, Purchasing, Inventory, Finance, Retail, and Base. These measures are designed to support multidimensional analysis in business intelligence environments.

1. Currency & Exchange Rates

All monetary measures support multi-currency environments through systematic currency conversion to a Pivot (reporting) currency.
The currency rates are obtained from Business Central’s exchange rates table, and the conversion is done in the same way business central converts between currencies (2 step conversions between currencies is supported)

1.1. Transaction-Level Exchange Rate ([Exchange Rate])

Used for flow measures (e.g., sales, purchases, general ledger changes) to reflect the exchange rate on the transaction date.

1.2. Last Exchange Rate ([Last Exchange Rate] or LER)

Applied to stock and balance measures (e.g., inventory value, payables/receivables balance) to ensure consistency at a point in time using the latest rate in the period.

Why this distinction?
Stock values and outstanding balances must be comparable across time and entities — using the last rate avoids distortion from historical fluctuations. Transaction flows, however, should reflect actual economic conditions at the time of occurrence.

2. Time Intelligence & Period Analysis

Some Measures are built with context-aware time filtering using 'Posting Date' as the primary time dimension.
The time-intelligence measures can be generated for any measure the user is interested in by setting the Generate POP/PTD Flag in Centrify 360 Setup Measures in Business Central.

2.1. Year-to-Date (YTD)

Provides the YTD Version of the measure, and a variance compared to last year’s YTD value in same period

2.2. Year-over-Year (YOY)

Provides the YOY Version of the measure, and a variance compared to last year’s value in same period
Example: When used in daily analysis, it provides the comparison with the same day, but last year

2.3. Quarter-over-Quarter (QOQ)

Provides the QOQ Version of the measure, and a variance compared to last quarter’s value in same period
Example: When used in daily analysis, it provides the comparison with the same day, but last quarter

2.4. Month-over-Month (MOM)

Provides the MOM Version of the measure, and a variance compared to last month’s value in same period
Example: When used in daily analysis, it provides the comparison with the same day, but last month
